Overview
A hole in the eardrum may cause hearing loss, discharge or recurrent infections. Keeping the ear dry and ENT follow-up are important. Surgery may be needed in selected cases.
When to consult an ENT specialist
Consult an ENT doctor if symptoms are severe, recurrent, long-lasting, associated with hearing loss, breathing difficulty, persistent pain, bleeding, dizziness, voice change, or if a child has sleep, speech or hearing concerns.
